The Bling Ring

Like many Sofia Coppola films, The Bling Ring had a large focus on success and isolation. Being based on actual events made it much more interesting as well as give the long shots of the burglaries more meaning. It was like I was there watching the celebrities houses and thinking 'how could they possibly leave doors unlocked with all their valuables inside?'. So I didn't leave the theater feeling like I wanted to go rob Paris Hilton, but it did leave me with that feeling of being indestructible. I always like films with more character depth but these were shallow people anyway, there wasn't much behind their intentions except attention. There was merely a surface level of fact but a heaping amount of "action". Seventy-five percent, or so, of the hour and a half long movie was of the celebrities houses. Once the story got to the court scenes, I really wanted to see more of that but it left mystery. The entire mystery of Hollywood and how everything goes unexplained. One big highlight was Emma Watson. It is always hard to see her as anything other than Hermione Granger but again she played the the self-obsessed glamor girl effortlessly. No library in sight.

So definitely go see it. But be sure to expect and look for that underlying meaning. She doesn't sell you short. Even if that's what it feels like.

It's Summertime!!

Because yesterday was the first official day of summer I went on a nice walk and took some summer photos. I don't want to think about how hot it will get in the next few months. I think it's been hot enough already. Looking for some more nice nature walks, maybe later in the day...like evening.

Big brand advertisements always have something special to them. It's like everything I love from advertising, film and fashion. Just enjoy it.

Summer Concerts ~ The Tallest Man on Earth

What a cute little man, he reminds me of a goat hoping around on stage. The performance as great. He is so genuine and kind hearted. It was easy to tell he loves what he does. I think his voice transfers much better live than in recordings.

Beauty is all about how you see it...

What makes a good advertisement? Fun music, nice looking clothes on nice looking people and beautiful locations. I really liked this and am so happy I stumbled across it. Shout out to Chiara Ferragni and Claire Geist...because they have beautiful blogs. Nice job Bar III, their clothes really are great. 

Summer Concerts ~ Arctic Monkeys

Saw them Tuesday. Lighting was terrible for pictures but the music was great and it was a lot of fun. I was really excited about this concert, I've wanted to see the Arctic Monkeys for awhile and was very satisfied with the setlist. Got another concert tonight, not as crazy but hopefully just as good!
